MANIHARI - There is a mythological story that during the Mahabharata period, Lord Krishna had come to this place and he lost mani (a valuable jewel). Due to this fact it come to be known as Maniharan which was changed into Manihari.
Regarding the location of this village, the old District Gazetteer of Purnea, 1911, by Mr. O'Malley, mentions, "A village in the south of district situates in the south of the Purnea subdivision on the Ganges".
